Plastics

Plastic: a popular collective term for synthetic materials. Some plastics are under discussion and others are booming.
Recycling is more a requirement in the field of plastics than merely something which is desirable.
Strict requirements are laid down for raw materials, for the production of monomers and also for the overall production process. The end products have a great many functions:

• Packaging material, including in the food industry
• Building materials
• The automobile industry
• Household equipment
• Electronic equipment and many more.

Each application has its own quality requirements. Analytical techniques such as X-ray fluorescence (XRF), Fourier Transformation infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermographic analyses (TGA) provide the information needed for quality research into both raw materials and end products in the plastics branch.
